From Jeremy:
As we are now into 2021, I try and look towards the future not back at the past. Yes I have learned a lot from 2020, I think we all have. But to linger there does me no good. Philippians 3:13 says, “No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,” I look up to the Lord of all. The Lord in which I put my faith and trust. I am hoping to post more updates on this blog. More personal heart felt updates that our family is going through. I hope that this blog can be a place where we can share our hearts, prayers, struggles and victories to all of you. We want our ministry and mission to focus solely on Jesus Christ and maybe this blog can plant a seed or help encourage seeds already there to grow and strengthen. In the days and months to come, I hope to give you a better view of what is happening at BVSA Honduras. I wish all of you love, hope and faith abounds. For our first post, my wonderful wife wanted to share something.
From Maria:
I was thinking about a conversation I had the other day. For the majority of mankind , it is human nature to plan things. We plan and don’t even know we are planning. We plan our day, we plan the activities in our day, we plan for meals, we plan our Bible time; we plan everything. One of the things that struck me about planning is this. As missionaries our biggest goal is to share the Gospel. It can be very hard to plan on how, where and to whom you will be sharing the Gospel today, tomorrow or whenever. This is so much more true before we go into the mission field and during our time in the field. We have a plan as to how we are going to reach people. In our minds, we set up scenarios. We put together our conversation and we even say ourselves, “I’m gonna share with every person I come in contact with. Besides that’s the reason why I am here right??” All of the sudden life happens. My plans are thrown off. Everything I planned for in order to share the gospel has fell by the way side and definitely did not go as I PLANNED! If I can share anything with new missionaries is that sharing the gospel is not about our planning. You see our plans are not the Lords plans. In fact they are pretty different than what Jesus has in mind. We are told this exact thing in Isaiah 55: 8-9.
The Lord has prepared every person that I come in contact with, HE knows exactly who he wants us to share the gospel with. The problem is ME. I want to control the situation. I want to plan what it looks like. If I can only get out of the way and see what HE sees, then my life is in His hands. I have given up control. Then His Word is being shared, His light is shinning. This person of peace, the person God has put in your path will welcome you, will receive you, will be open to your friendship and open to hear about Jesus. When I just do life and share my ups and downs, when I am real, when I am relatable, when I trust and abide in Jesus, my cup over flows and the Gospel spills into the lives of not only my family but also the Rhinos. The ones God has put in my life. It is for them and their families that I am to share the gospel. Missionaries- Be patient, Be still, Be moldable. Try not to Plan!
